Deborah G. Kohl is the founder of the Law Offices of Deborah G. Kohl. Her illustrious career has spanned more than four decades where she has received countless accolades for her aggressive and arduous defense of injured workers. Attorney Kohl concentrates her practice in the areas of workers’ compensation and disability law. She is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island and Northeastern University School of Law. She is a frequent lecturer and author on workers’ compensation law. She is the editor of Massachusetts Workers’ Compesnation Sourcebook and Citator. She is a fellow and past president of the national College of Workers’ Compensation Lawyers, and has been elected a s a member of the National Academy of Social Insurance. She has served as Chair of the American Association for Justice Workers Compensation Section and as President of Workers’ Injury Law & Advocacy Group (WILG). She was the founding Chair of the Workers’ Compensation Section Council of the Massachusetts Bar Association. She currently serves as a member of the WILG board and as Vice President of the American Bar Association TIPS Workers’ Compensation Section. She is on the Board of the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys.
Robert Deubel, Jr. is a Partner at the Law Offices of Deborah G. Kohl where he has represented injured workers on claims for benefits for more than twenty years. Mr. Deubel concentrates his practice in the areas of Massachusetts and Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation, Social Security Disability, and Municipal Accidental Disability Retirements an Appeals. He earned his B.A. from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1996 and his J.D. at Tulane University School of Law in 1999. Mr. Deubel was a law clerk for Rhode Island Supreme Court chief Justice Joseph R. Weisberger. He also served as law clerk to the various Judges at the Rhode Island Superior Court and Rhode Island Workers’ Compensation Court. Attorney Deubel was a contributing author to the Lexis Nexis Practice Guide on Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation. Attorney Deubel is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, Rhode Island Bar Association, the Workers Injury Law & Advocacy Group and the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representative.
Ryan Benharris is a partner at the Law Offices of Deborah G. Kohl. For more than 18 years he has represented injured workers in Massachusetts and Rhode Island in claims for workers’ compensation benefits. He also has tried hundreds of cases at the Social Security Administration in appeals for Social Security Disability benefits. Attorney Benharris served as the Chair of the Massachusetts Bar Association Workers’ Compensation Section Council from 2021 through 2023. In 2023 he was named one of the top five workers’ compensation lawyers by Boston Magazine. Attorney Benharris is a frequent lecturer on Massachusetts Workers’ Compensation at Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE). He has also lectured at national conferences in Philadelphia and Las Vegas for the Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group. He was a contributing author to the Lexis Nexis Practice Guide on Workers’ Compensation. After three years of practice, Attorney Benharris was awarded the Stanley Rudman Award for Advocacy by MCLE in 2008. Previously Attorney Benharris served as a vice president for the Workers’ Injury Law and Advocacy Group and is currently a general member and a member of its longshore and harbor workers’ compensation division. He also holds memberships with the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Rhode Island Bar Association, the Massachusetts Academy of Trial Attorneys, the Bristol County Bar Association, and the Attleboro Bar Association.
Attorney Benharris is a 2001 graduate of the University of Massachusetts – Amherst. He received his juris doctorate from Southern New England School of Law (now known as University of Massachusetts Dartmouth School of Law) in 2005 where he served as the President of its Student Bar Association as a third-year law student. Later he served as the President of the UMass Dartmouth School of Law’s Alumni Association from 2014 through 2017. He lives in North Attleboro with his wife and son.
